China's Growing Wine Business

Fortune magazine recently reported the following statistics on China's wine production:
- Over 1 billion bottles of wine were produced in 2009, double the amount made in 2004
- In 2010, China is expected to become the sixth largest wine producer
- 75% of China's grape wine is red
- China is 8th in terms of wine consumed per household

Humidity in a Wine Cooler

Humidity is the percentage amount of moisture or wetness in the air. For the best wine storage conditions, a wine cooler or wine refrigerator should be at around 70% humidity. This humidity level will lessen the chance that wine corks will dry and shrink. Excess cork shrinkage could allow air into the wine bottle, oxidate the wine and turn it into expensive vinegar.

Antique Wine Coolers Sell For $65,000

Four matching silver wine coolers that were made in England, and dated to 1815, were recently sold for $65,000 at an auction in Canada.

The silver wine coolers were rare because of their age, condition and the fact that they were a set of four.
